For a lighting modernization project, we at SPEC design three packages; The Bronze: No control (only doing fixture replacement or fixture retrofit), The Silver: New fixtures with lighting control, and The Gold: New fixtures with IoT (smart) sensors, granular dimming, and IoT base-networked lighting control system. Our lighting solutions are custom crafted for each client and situation. We take into account numerous criteria such as facility type, light levels, fixture mount heights, and how the space is used. We then look at the potential benefit of various types of lighting control systems. This is approached very strategically to provide our clients with the highest and best outcome. We also educate our clients on the potential benefits of Lighting Based IoT platforms. These systems provide functions far beyond lighting. We only recommend such solutions when business use cases can be identified.

  1. Bronze Solution

    Our Bronze Solution is the “Value” solution for those customers focused solely on price. We adhere to minimal quality standards and only Specify products from reputable and financially stable lighting manufacturers. The Bronze Solution typically consists of simple retrofits and/or low-cost fixtures. Controls are usually not included in the Bronze package except for simple on-board occupancy sensors in some cases.

  2. Silver Solution

    Our Silver Solution is the “Mid-Tier” solution for those customers who want a step above the basics but don’t want to spend the money for a high-end solution.

    This solution consists of fixture retrofits and new fixtures. Controls range from simple occupancy sensors and control relay to a standalone wireless room controller system. From a financial perspective, this solution typically will save more on energy.

  3. Gold Solution

    Our Gold Solution is the “High-End” solution for those customers who appreciate how the highest efficacy (highly efficient) fixtures and granular controllability save significantly more dollars on energy in the long run. We typically specify a Lighting Based IoT platform solution as it is wireless, easy to deploy, and a future proofing technology. We typically use these systems today as an Advanced Lighting Control system maximizing energy savings. The infrastructure allows for many other applications if the customer chooses to pursue these at any point in the future.
